Pioneering technology
Advices
More than 100 chemists, chemical engineers, technicians and support staff work tirelessly to ensure our formulations are best-in-class.
Our commitment to research and innovation has led us to many industry firsts.
• The first eggshell interior finish – 1972
• The first Computer Color Matching System – 1982 (now an industry standard)
• The first pearl interior finish – 1988
• EcoSpec®, our low-VOC latex paint
• The first company in the U.S. to introduce a zero VOC waterborne tinting system to the marketplace: our patented Gennex® Color Technology –2006
And years before the federal government required it, we eliminated lead, formaldehyde and mercury from our paints and met VOC standards.
Working Smarter
There are eight research and development laboratories at our 80,000-square-foot facility in Flanders, New Jersey. Each lab focuses on a different area of expertise, from evaluating color standards to enhancing high-performance coatings designed for industrial facilities. We continually test and improve our existing products, while researching and developing new products to meet our customer needs.
WE ARE COMMITTED TO DEVELOPING THE MOST INNOVATIVE BEST PERFORMING COATINGS…
Better Paint
How is paint made? The better the resins and colorants, the better the paint. We manufacture our own resins—the binders that make the film and finish of a paint. We also create our own colorants, the pigments that give paint its unique color and hiding characteristics.
We take these proprietary ingredients and custom formulate them to optimize their performance in each of our products. You might call this process the key component of our competitive advantage.
Every product is designed to perform—crafted to serve a specific role and deliver specific benefits. It’s the not-so-secret secret behind our extraordinary application properties, durability, and longevity.
